The Truth About Kamala’s Gun Confiscation Goals

With President Joe Biden’s sudden departure from the 2024 presidential race on July 21, the Democrats have now placed their bets on Vice President Kamala Harris, effectively coronating her as their nominee. But gun owners and Second Amendment supporters need to wake up—Harris poses the gravest threat to their constitutional rights we’ve ever seen. Her track record reveals that she doesn’t even believe the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to keep and bear arms. And, let’s not forget, she’s been openly advocating for gun confiscation.

Kamala Harris: An Anti-Second Amendment Extremist

Back in 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court settled the issue of individual gun ownership in the landmark case District of Columbia v. Heller. The case overturned Washington, D.C.’s total ban on handgun ownership, affirming that the Second Amendment does protect an individual’s right to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes, including self-defense. This decision was later reinforced in McDonald v. Chicago (2010) and again in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen (2022), which made it clear that the right to carry a firearm for self-defense extends outside the home.

But Kamala Harris has long held a different, more extreme view. As the District Attorney of San Francisco in 2008, Harris endorsed a brief supporting Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban in the Heller case. This brief argued that the Second Amendment only grants a “militia-related right to bear arms” and does not protect an individual’s right. Essentially, Harris believed that the right to keep and bear arms was something the lower court in Heller “created.”

What’s even more concerning is that Harris didn’t stop there. Her brief also argued that the Second Amendment shouldn’t apply to state or local governments, which would have allowed states to ban all firearms if they so wished. If Harris’s position had been adopted, states and cities would have been free to completely strip their residents of gun ownership rights. Sound extreme? That’s because it is. This isn’t just a policy difference; it’s a fundamental attack on the individual liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.

Let’s put this in perspective. When Gallup asked Americans in 2008 whether they believed the Second Amendment guaranteed their right to own guns, a whopping 73% said yes. Even more striking, a 2023 Gallup poll showed that 73% opposed a law that would ban the possession of handguns, except for police and other authorized persons. Harris’s views aren’t just fringe—they’re at odds with the vast majority of Americans.

Kamala Harris: Willing to Pack the Supreme Court to Achieve Her Gun Control Agenda

What makes Harris even more dangerous is her willingness to pack the Supreme Court with judges who share her anti-gun stance. In 2019, Harris made it clear she was “open to expanding the Supreme Court” to push through her preferred policies. She’s not just interested in enforcing existing laws; she wants to change the makeup of the court to secure an anti-Second Amendment majority that could gut gun rights altogether.

Think about that. Harris is willing to change the very structure of the judiciary to ensure that her extreme anti-gun policies can’t be overturned. This isn’t just about gun control; this is about transforming the constitutional landscape to fit her political agenda. If Harris had her way, we could see a Supreme Court ready and willing to rewrite the Second Amendment to strip Americans of their right to self-defense.

Harris’s Support for Gun Confiscation

You might think this is just rhetoric—politicians pandering to their base. But Harris has been crystal clear about her intentions. She supports the outright prohibition and confiscation of commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, including the wildly popular AR-15.

During her 2020 presidential campaign, Harris repeatedly called for a compulsory “buyback” program to take these firearms “off the streets.” At a campaign event in New Hampshire, she told reporters, “We have to take those guns off the streets.” When asked if this mandatory buyback went against the Second Amendment, Harris’s response was chillingly direct: “I do believe that we need to do buybacks.” Make no mistake—this isn’t about public safety. It’s about undermining a fundamental right.

But Harris didn’t stop there. As Vice President, she’s praised Australia’s extreme gun control measures, which included a near-total ban on civilian ownership of semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, paired with a mandatory confiscation scheme. At an October 2023 state luncheon, Harris remarked, “It does not have to be this way, as our friends in Australia have demonstrated.” That’s right—she’s openly admiring a country that confiscated legally-owned firearms from its citizens.

The Bottom Line: Your Second Amendment Rights Are Under Threat

Kamala Harris’s record is clear. She doesn’t believe in an individual’s right to keep and bear arms. She supports the confiscation of legally-owned firearms. And she’s willing to change the Supreme Court to ensure that her extreme views become law. If Harris wins in 2024, gun owners will be facing the most direct assault on their constitutional rights in American history.

So, what can you do? NRA members, gun rights activists, and freedom-loving Americans must educate their family, friends, and neighbors about the existential threat Harris poses to our way of life and our personal property. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Harris isn’t just another anti-gun politician—she’s a danger to the very fabric of our constitutional republic. It’s time to fight back and protect our Second Amendment rights before they’re taken away for good.
