Gun owners just scored a major win, but anti-gun politicians are already scheming to take it away.
Last week, the House of Representatives passed President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, a bold move that strikes a serious blow to the outdated and unconstitutional suppressor regulations buried in the National Firearms Act. If this bill becomes law, it would eliminate the $200 tax stamp, scrap the NFA’s application and registry requirements, and restore suppressors to their rightful status—just another legal firearm accessory under the Gun Control Act of 1968.
This is exactly the kind of common-sense reform that respects our rights and protects the hearing of responsible gun owners across America.
But of course, the anti-gun crowd couldn’t handle it.
Nancy Pelosi, during a heated floor debate on May 22, scoffed at the idea of ending the suppressor tax. In a tone-deaf statement, she claimed removing the fee was “beyond comprehension”—as if protecting the hearing of law-abiding Americans was some sort of radical idea.
But the worst came from Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.), who openly admitted what most anti-gun lawmakers only hint at: they want fewer gun owners, fewer sales, and fewer freedoms.
Dean wasn’t just upset that Americans are exercising their rights—she was shocked by it.
“It’s $1.4 billion over 10 years… that means something like 700,000 silencers are sold in this country a year. That baffles me,” she said.
Rather than support the rollback of an unjust tax, Dean proposed tripling it to $600—hoping it would “discourage some sales.” She even floated the idea that doubling the tax to $400 would maintain revenue while cutting the number of suppressors sold in half.
Let that sink in.
This isn’t about “safety.” It’s not about “common sense.” It’s about weaponizing the tax code to strip away your rights piece by piece. Dean’s logic is crystal clear: if they can’t outright ban it, they’ll just tax it into oblivion.
This is exactly why President Trump’s bill matters. It’s not just about suppressors—it’s about pushing back against a system that’s been used for decades to harass and penalize legal gun owners for simply exercising their Second Amendment rights.
Bottom line: When anti-gun lawmakers start openly fantasizing about suppressing your freedom with crushing taxes, it’s more important than ever to fight back. And thanks to Trump and pro-2A allies in Congress, we finally have a chance to do just that.
Don’t let Dean and her allies win. Contact your representatives and tell them to support Trump’s bill and restore sanity to suppressor laws.
